PSHE
PSHE at Pakefield Primary happens all of the time, it’s within everything we do. In addition to this we have dedicated PSHE lessons; as well as exploring Picture News and No Outsiders. This enables us to inspire our children to become happy and healthy citizens of the world.
Intent
- At Pakefield Primary School we explore diversity and promote respect and tolerance of people and families which are different from our own. We expose children to a wide range of relevant and meaningful content allowing them to develop the knowledge and skills which they will need to keep themselves healthy and safe.
Aims
- PSHE education aims to give every child the knowledge and the skills to become well-rounded adults who thrive now and in the future.
Implementation
At Pakefield Primary School we base our planning and delivery on the Question-Based Model from the PSHE Association as it suits our children’s needs very well. It follows 3 core themes throughout each year group and key stage:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Relationships
- Living in the Wider World

Picture News
Picture News helps us to learn from the world around us. Each week, we look at a current news story using an image, a thought-provoking question and a variety of other resources.

No Outsiders
No Outsiders aims to encourage children to explore identities and focuses on diversity and embracing difference. Through carefully chosen picture books that promote discussion, we encourage an ethos of inclusion and tolerance with an aim to prepare children for a life where diversity is embraced and there is no fear of difference.
- ‘You belong; everyone is welcome. There are no outsiders here!’
