Turtles have become squabbling squirrels! They were acting out what Bruce and Cyril may be saying when squabbling over nuts. “They are my nuts!” “I had them first!” “Give them to me!” We then thought about what the squirrels could do before reading the story ‘The squirrels who squabbled’.

This morning the Butterfly class came in to a mystery. We discovered that the seagulls keep eating Mr Grinling‘s lunch. We have been designing and testing new lunch transportation methods!

Ducklings had a very busy week learning about recycling and helping to tidy up the small world area, as someone had left litter all over it. We made posters to help our grown ups remember what goes in our new recycling bins.

🌞 Year 2 Beach School Update – Tuesday 🌞 Due to the Met Office issuing a severe weather warning for high temperatures on Tuesday, we have made the decision to cancel our Beach School session. While we know the children were looking forward to their visit, their safety and wellbeing must always come first. The good news is that we will be bringing the seaside spirit into school instead! 🏖️🐚 We would love to welcome parents and carers to join us from 2:00pm–3:00pm for a fun-filled afternoon of seaside-themed activities. There will be plenty of opportunities for children and families to learn, create and enjoy some beach-inspired fun together. Thank you for your understanding and support. Turtles have been enjoying their Science lessons learning all about plants. This week we did some observational drawings of plants making sure we looked carefully at the different parts of a plant.

Turtles enjoyed their computing lesson learning about algorithms. We tried creating our own algorithms for our friends to follow.

Bumblebees enjoyed a lovely music session with Joe who brought his guitar for some songs. They joined in with all the songs and dances and also played along with the instruments too. Thank you to Joe for visitig us. 🎶🎶🎵🎸

🦈 Sharks enjoyed their PE session yesterday, practicing running races and how to pass the baton in a relay race. Well done for showing great team work!

The Pandas were using their memory and observation skills in Guided Reading today. They were remembering their picture then describing it to their team. Fantastic communication and a great introduction to our Ancient Egyptian text this week.

The Pandas have also been looking at classification keys this afternoon in their science lesson, using liquorice sweets to create their own keys. They even tried liquorice afterwards!

🐨Koalas have been learning all about classification keys in science, we had a go at making our own using sweets thinking carefully about our questions. 🐨

Badgers 🦡 are exploring classification diagrams. Using sweets, they are looking for observable characteristics to ask yes/no questions, to create keys for identification.

Dragonflies had ’Beach School’ this afternoon! We were using our technical drawing skills in some observational sketches of the beach huts.

This afternoon butterflies visited Pakefield beach to observe the beach huts. We completed some amazing observational drawings. 🦋🏖️

🐨Amazing team work and DT skills in Koalas Class last week producing their automata toys. They showed great resilience and focus to ensure they followed their plan and met their success criteria. Superb finished results, well done everyone. 🐨

Fantastic morning for our Year 5 children over at Pakefield High School. It was science-themed. They were looking at marine life, dissecting fish, neon painting, moulding sharks with plasticine as well as looking at food chains. Thank you Pakefield High School
