Governance
Pakefield Primary School is part of the Active Learning Trust. The Active Learning Trust has legal responsibility for the school. The Trust is governed by the Directors, who rely on advice and support from the Local Governing Board (LGB). The Directors are the charity trustees and responsible for the general control and management of the administration of the Company in accordance with the provisions set out in the Articles of Association of the Company. Further information regarding this can be found on the ALT website.
Trust governors are recommended by the school and appointed by the Chief Executive of the Active Learning Trust. The Local Governing Board meet three times each year; once per half term. Parent governors are elected by the parents of Pakefield.

Mrs Bridget Fosten (Chair)

For the past four years I have been Chair of Governors at Pakefield Primary School. Previously I was a Parent Governor, and both our children attended the school. In the past I served on the Finance Committee and am currently the link governor for Health and Safety and Pupil Premium.
I am passionate about seizing and creating opportunities for positive change in the community, and see the amazing work of staff and students at the school is a key part of that. It’s great to see the extent and thoroughness of the initiatives for school improvement, and a privilege to meet with pupils and hear about all the amazing learning opportunities they have.
My work experience has been as a personnel manager in both the private and charity sectors and so I am familiar with good HR and general management practices. I currently volunteer as an Adviser with Citizens Advice, as a trainer for a local charity and on the Management Board of the Seagull Theatre – a community theatre in Pakefield.
Mrs Anne Powles (Trust Governor) Vice Chair

I am a retired teacher and being part of the Governing Body enables me to help the school as it continues to make progress. I live in Pakefield and my grandson attends this school.I have taught children of all ages in the primary stage of education and for the last few years of my career taught the nursery children at this school. I became a governor as I have a genuine commitment to the well-being of the children and want to help them, in whatever way I can, to achieve their full potential.I have a particular interest in the Foundation Stage and I am the EYFS governor. I also chaired the Personnel Committee until October 2017; having the right people teaching your children is fundamental to having happy and successful children. As a retired teacher I understand the pressures of teaching children today but the children at this school deserve the best and as a governor I will do what I can to help Pakefield Primary become a good school and ultimately an outstanding school.
Mrs Jill Adams (Trust Governor) Vice Chair

I have been involved in school governance since 2008. Since becoming a governor at Pakefield I have taken on the safeguarding role and I am the Safer Employment Champion. I am also a member of the Personnel Working Party. I spent my working life as a librarian in London, Norfolk and Suffolk and I have always had a responsibility for working with children and promoting and supporting reading and learning. Although my own children have grown up I am still interested in schools and the difference that a good school can make to a child's life. All children need the chance to maximise their potential, whatever that may be.
Mrs Linda Hirst (Support Staff Governor)

Most parents and regular visitors will recognise me from the School Office. I love working in such a wonderful school and I feel very privileged to be the first point of contact for our families, staff and visitors. I’m
I have worked at Pakefield Primary for 4 years now, before this I worked at a Pupil Referral Unit in Lowestoft. I started my career at Norwich Union/Aviva where I held many roles including customer services, finance and I was involved in the creation of the very first policies that were offered on-line which was a very exciting time. I then took a career break for almost 10 years to have my family. I have a daughter who is currently at University and a son who has just started an engineering apprenticeship.
I love walking Charlie, my Cocker Spaniel and going on sunny holidays. I am really looking forward to fulfilling my Staff Governor role and being involved with improving and developing Pakefield Primary even more!
Mrs Sarah Farrell (Trust Governor)

After completing a geography degree, I initially wanted to become a teacher but following two very enjoyable years working in a doctors’ surgery, I instead went on to do my nurse training. I have now worked for over ten years on the Intensive Care Unit at the James Paget Hospital as a Staff Nurse and Clinical Educator. I really love my job but this year it has been very challenging and unlike any other.
My job involves teaching and training new nurses & doctors, organising study days and this year I am very proud to have been involved in designing a national teaching aid which is now in widespread use throughout hospitals in the UK.
I am passionate about the importance of education and I am enthusiastic about the role I could potentially play in a team, working in the best interests of the school and striving for ongoing improvement and best practice. I believe that all children have the right to an education that helps them to fulfil their potential in life, and as a mum myself I feel that I would bring a parental perspective to board meetings and the decision making process, in addition to helping to provide a link to the parenting community.
Mr Harvey Goodfellow (Parent Governor)

Having completed an Apprenticeship in my early career, I have now worked in the Oil & Gas Industry for the past 14yrs. I have worked within a number of engineering positions in the U.K, and various countries around the world, including Algeria, Dubai, Turkey and The Netherlands. In recent years I completed a degree in Engineering Management with The University of Lincoln and went on to gain Chartered Manager status with the CMI.
I’m passionate about leadership and the impact it can have on achieving success in both Teams and individuals. I believe the core principles of effective leadership can be used to effectively drive change, in turn creating positive outcomes to which ever setting they are applied.
As a parent of two children at the school and a Parent Governor within the Team, my aim is to support the school in continually seeking improvement. I believe by sharing knowledge and collaborating with the Team, providing a balanced approach to decision making that even greater success can be achieved at Pakefield.
